This car deserves its own post: Chassis 013R is a 1996-spec GTR the year McLaren revised the aerodynamics with a larger rear wing and reworked splitter after Le Mans ‚95 exposed some high-speed stability issues on the original road-car-shaped body. Under the skin it kept the BMW-sourced S70/2 6.1-litre V12, detuned from the road car’s 618 hp to around 600 hp for GT1 regulations, still driving through a 6-speed manual and still carrying the central driving position that made the F1 unique among anything else racing at the time. Piloted by Naoki Hattori and Ralf Schumacher, the brightly liveried machine won three of the six rounds in the All Japan GT Championship series in 1996.
